Equipment for Loan

General

Equipment available for general checkout from the Link desk includes webcams, Flip cameras, standard and high-definition video cameras, video conferencing software, iPods and other tools. Note that all of this equipment that circulates from the Service Desk is available on a first-come-first-served basis and is not reservable. For more information, contact the Service Desk.

We do not generally circulate equipment in between academic semesters (usually stopping at the last day of classes.) If you wish to request equipment during that time, please email linksupport@duke.edu with the details of your project and your requested loan window.

Link iPad Loaner Program

The Link is now offering a limited number of iPads available for 1 week, first come, first served, non-renewable loan from the Link Service Desk on Perkins Lower Level 1.

If you have questions about whether or not you would be eligible to borrow an iPad, we encourage you to email linksupport@duke.edu ahead of time to verify before visiting the Link desk.

Please visit the Link during normal Link hours to check out an iPad. These items are not reservable and there is no waiting list.

All loans are subject to the terms and conditions as specified in your loan agreement and as listed on this site.

Equipment for Loan

This equipment is all available on a first come, first served basis to Duke undergraduate students and faculty at the service desk at the Link during regular desk hours. All loans are subject to the terms and conditions as specified in your loan agreement and as listed on this site.

Video Recording Devices

The Link offers several different types of digital video cameras for faculty and student use. These cameras are available for four week loans (may vary around academic breaks.) If you need help learning what to do with your footage, you can go to the MPS lab — or if you’re an instructor, you can make an appointment with CIT.

All loans are subject to the terms and conditions as specified in your loan agreement and as listed on this site. Due to demand, staff may not borrow flip cameras or hard-drive based camera kits without prior approval.

Webcams, Headsets & USB Speakerphones

The Link has a number of tools to help make recording and remote collaboration easier. The Logitech Webcams come with a stand or can clip onto your computer. They work well with web conferencing software such as Skype or WebEx and video chat or can be used to make recordings. Webcams are available to undergraduate students and instructors teaching undergraduate courses for four week periods from the Link. Headsets with built-in microphones and USB speakerphones are also available. Help learning how to use these tools is available at the MPS labs or for instructors, by appointment, from CIT.

All loans are subject to the terms and conditions as specified in your loan agreement and as listed on this site.
